The Presbyterian Church of Ghana is now ready to launch the full version of its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System, marking a major milestone in its digital transformation agenda.
In his report at the 26th General Assembly, the Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. David Aboagye‑Danquah, explained that the ERP system—first introduced in 2016 to digitalise the Church’s manual operations—has undergone extensive upgrades, corrections and testing to ensure it meets current administrative standards.
The initial modules included Accounting and Finance, Human Resources, Document Management, and the Church Membership and Statistics Management System.
Rev. Aboagye‑Danquah noted that while some components such as the Payroll Management System, Document Management System, and parts of the Human Resources module have been operational for years, several attempts to deploy the full system across the church were unsuccessful. The most recent attempt in 2024 encountered technical challenges that halted the rollout.
He said the church responded by adopting a strategic, phased deployment approach beginning in 2026. Ahead of this pilot phase, extensive work was carried out in 2025 to update the system, correct deficiencies, and align it with current operational needs.
A deployment schedule proposed by the Technical Committee of the Committee on Information, Statistics and Planning (ISP) was approved by the General Assembly Council, selecting four Presbyteries, each with four Districts, together with all congregations within those districts, to participate in the pilot.
According to the Clerk, reports from the participating Presbyteries have been “encouraging,” with positive feedback on the system’s functionality and ease of use. “The initial indications suggest that the strategic pilot approach has yielded the desired results and provided a sound basis for further deployment across the Church,” he said.
He expressed the church’s appreciation to the ISP Technical Committee for its “enormous sacrifice of time, expertise and resources” in ensuring the system’s readiness, adding that their perseverance has been crucial to bringing the ERP project to this stage.
Rev. Aboagye‑Danquah concluded with a major announcement: “I am pleased to announce that the full version of the ERP System will be officially launched by the Moderator at this General Assembly.”
