The new Ga West Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. David Sowateye Obli has vowed to lead with patience, tolerance and love as he begins his mandate. He made the pledge during a brief handing‑over ceremony held at the Kaneshie Congregation in Accra.
Anchoring his message on Romans 8:28, Rev. Obli expressed deep gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve, describing his election as a remarkable act of divine providence. He noted that he was chosen from among 170 qualified ministers, a reality he said affirmed that his new responsibility was not merely an office but a call to serve God and His people.
Rev. Obli promised to approach his mandate with humility and a commitment to work with patience, tolerance and love. He appealed to Ministers, Agents and members of the Presbytery to support his administration and to remember him and his household in prayer as he begins his tenure.
“Be strong and courageous”
In his exhortation, the immediate past Chairperson, Rev. Enoch Adjei Pobee, encouraged his successor to remain strong and courageous, drawing inspiration from Joshua 1:1–9. He urged Rev. Obli not to fear the challenges ahead, assuring him that the Lord would be with him throughout his service.
Rev. Pobee reminded the new Chairperson that ecclesiastical leadership comes with weighty responsibilities and moments of uncertainty, and therefore requires a leader firmly rooted in God. He advised him to hold fast to Scripture whenever he felt confused or weak, stressing that patience, tolerance, love and courage would be essential qualities for navigating the demands of the office.
He expressed confidence that Rev. Obli’s tenure would be fruitful and prayed that God would grant him wisdom and strength to lead the Presbytery effectively.
Affirmation from the Presbytery
The Lay Representative of the Presbytery, Mrs. Adwoa Ofosua Annor‑Boakye, recounted the electoral process that led to Rev. Obli’s election and congratulated him on the mantle of leadership placed upon him. She expressed hope that his tenure would bring blessing, progress and meaningful growth to the Presbytery.
The service was led by Rev. Enock Oboubi, the Kaneshie District Minister. For Rev. Obli, the path ahead is clearly defined: to lead with patience, tolerance and love, trusting that God will ultimately work all things together for good.
