Moderator begins month-long annual leave
The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has commenced his annual vacation, marking a well‑deserved period of rest after months of intense pastoral, administrative and ceremonial engagements across the church.
In a message to the church, he announced that Akuapem Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Ebenezer Acheampong Asiedu, will act as Moderator during his absence. The Moderator is expected to resume duty in October.
This period of rest comes after an exceptionally demanding year for the Moderator, who has led the church through numerous programmes, pastoral visits, ordination and commissioning services, national conferences and high‑level meetings at the Head Office.
From January to September, his schedule has been marked by continuous travel, preaching engagements, ecumenical assignments, and leadership responsibilities that required his presence across multiple Presbyteries.
Upon his return in October, he is expected to lead the church through one of its most significant upcoming responsibilities; the induction of seven new Presbytery Chairpersons, scheduled from October through November. These induction services will usher in new leadership across several Presbyteries, marking an important moment in the church’s governance cycle.
