The Ablekuma District of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has held its 2026 Pens Down Praise programme, introducing candidates to emerging issues as they prepare to transition from one level of education to another. The event brought together candidates, parents, church leaders and stakeholders to celebrate the young people, encourage them and commit them to God in prayer.
Pens Down Praise is designed not only as a moment of thanksgiving for completing an important phase of academic life, but also as a platform to prepare candidates spiritually, mentally and socially for the next chapter ahead. Addressing the students, District Minister Rev. Daniel Opong‑Wereko urged them to remain grateful to God for their achievements and to recognise that their educational journey forms part of a broader divine purpose. He encouraged them to approach the future with discipline, faith, determination and a willingness to learn.
A key feature of the programme was an orientation session that introduced candidates to emerging issues and the realities they may encounter at the Senior High School and tertiary levels. The session equipped them with practical knowledge on personal responsibility, academic expectations, social relationships and the challenges associated with progressing to higher levels of education.
Organisers also presented gifts to the candidates as tokens of appreciation and encouragement, reminding them that the church and their families recognise their efforts and remain committed to their growth. A special prayer session followed, during which church leaders, parents and participants committed the young people into God’s hands, seeking divine guidance, protection, wisdom and success for their next stage of life.
Speaking to the Ga West Presbytery Director of Education, Rev. Seth Agyakwa, who previously served as the Ablekuma District Education Committee Chairperson, described Pens Down Praise as an important intervention that nurtures young people and helps them appreciate the connection between faith, education and responsible living.
