The dedication of new maternity and theatre blocks at the Presbyterian Regional Eye Centre in Yorogo was made possible through strong international collaboration, the Acting General Manager of Presbyterian Health Service-North has disclosed in an address at the dedication of the project by the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana Rt. Rev. Dr Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye.
Friends of Bawku and Wilde Ganzen, development partners from the Netherlands, contributed significantly to the €150,000 project. The funding was structured as a counterpart arrangement, with each partner, including the Presbyterian Health Service, providing one-third of the total cost.
Speaking at the dedication service in Yorogo on Tuesday, Dr. Dennis Daliri expressed profound gratitude to the partners, describing their support as “reflecting the power of international solidarity and partnership in addressing critical health needs in underserved communities.”
He also acknowledged the leadership of the Directors for Development and Social Services, the Health Coordinator, the Area Board, and the Centre’s Coordinator, Mr. Peter Abugri, for their hard dedication and oversight.
Dr. Daliri noted that further additions such as a Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), laundry, and a well-equipped emergency department are still needed to complete the transformation journey.
