The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, together with his wife, Mrs. Benedicta Kwakye, received a beautiful, resounding welcome to the Brong Ahafo Presbytery as his one-week pastoral visit commenced on Monday afternoon.

The Moderator and his delegation were first met at Bechem, the entry point to the Presbytery from the Asante Presbytery. The Bechem District organised a warm reception in his honour, beginning from Bechem Nkwanta, where members led the Moderator and his team in a procession through the principal street of Bechem before meeting congregants briefly at the Good Shepherd Congregation.

At the Presbytery Office, Chairperson Rev. Benjamin Appiah formally welcomed the Moderator on behalf of the Presbytery. He assured him of the Presbytery’s readiness to host him and to listen eagerly to the message God has placed on his heart for the church.

Giving a detailed historical overview, Rev. Appiah explained that the Brong Ahafo Presbytery was carved out of the Asante Presbytery on 1st May 1966, with eight pastoral districts: Duayaw Nkwanta, Bechem, Dormaa-Ahenkro, Atebubu, Sunyani, Berekum, Japekrom, and Sampa, comprising a total of 86 congregations.

After 43 years of effective evangelism and growth, the West Brong Ahafo Presbytery was created out of the Brong Ahafo Presbytery on August 30, 2009. As of December 2025, membership of the “Best Achievers” Presbytery stood at 118,426, representing a 7.8% growth rate over the previous year.

The Chairperson ended the welcome ceremony by praying for God’s grace and strength for a fruitful and impactful pastoral visit.
