Free health screening exercise at Abasua, Atwea
The Presbyterian Health Centre at Abasua, located within the Sekyere Presbytery, has organised a Free Health Screening Exercise for residents of Abasua, Atwea, and neighbouring communities, reaffirming the church’s commitment to community wellbeing.
The exercise, held on Monday, brought together medical staff, volunteers, and community members for a full day of health checks, counselling, and preventive education. Beneficiaries received screening for blood pressure, blood sugar, malaria, body mass index, and other basic health assessments aimed at promoting early detection and timely intervention.
The Chairperson of the Sekyere Presbytery, Rev. Sam Foster Kwakye, joined the medical team during the outreach, offering pastoral care, encouragement, and prayer support to participants. He interacted with residents who had come for screening, listening to their concerns and urging them to prioritise their health as part of responsible Christian living.
Rev. Kwakye also commended the clinic’s health workers for their dedication and professionalism. He noted that their service reflects the Presbyterian Church of Ghana’s long‑standing commitment to holistic ministry, which integrates spiritual care with physical, emotional, and social wellbeing.
He encouraged the staff to continue giving their best to every patient who walks through the clinic’s doors, emphasising that compassionate healthcare is a vital expression of the church’s mission. Community members expressed gratitude to the Presbyterian Health Centre for bringing essential health services closer to them, especially at a time when access to medical care remains a challenge for many rural communities.
