The Moderator of the General Assembly has cautioned that excessive concern about material needs can breed rivalry among families, communities and institutions, urging the Church to trust wholly in God for provision rather than becoming consumed by anxiety over basic needs.
Preaching at the North America–Australia Presbytery Women’s Fellowship Fifth Biennial Conference in the Ohio District, the Moderator reminded members that Jesus provides for His people when they trust in Him. He encouraged the Church to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, assuring them that God will supply their needs in His own time.
He further called for unity among Church and Fellowship members, noting that harmony is essential for the growth of both the Fellowship and the wider Presbyterian Church of Ghana. The Moderator also encouraged members to support the Kutunse Project and to pray toward the Church’s bicentenary celebrations in October 2028.
The conference, held from 25–27 September 2026, was organised under the theme “Celebrating Our Heritage: Building on the Foundation Already Laid – Sustaining the Gains as a Woman.” It was chaired by Women’s Fellowship President Sister Lydia Oforiwaa Opong, supported by the executive committee.
Speaking on the theme, Mrs. Janet Appenteng, wife of the Presbytery Chairperson, urged the Fellowship to uphold the Church’s heritage and learn from its forebears. She encouraged members to examine their values and cultural practices in the light of Scripture, emphasising that Jesus Christ remains the sure foundation of the Church. Through such commitment, she said, the Fellowship can sustain the gains it has made over the years, especially within the North America–Australia Presbytery.
Presbytery Chairperson Rev. Christian Bekoe Appenteng explained recent General Assembly decisions to participants, urging them to abide by these directives to maintain discipline and preserve the Church’s heritage. He encouraged the Fellowship to pass on the Church’s values to younger women while paying attention to their experiences.
He also appealed to members to extend their service beyond the Church into the wider community, care for those in need, and lead them to a saving knowledge of Christ. He cautioned against airing internal Church matters on social media.
Other dignitaries present included Rev. Felix Addo‑Botchway, Presbytery CLAN Director; Rev. Dr. Frank Addo, Director of Evangelism; Mrs. Benedicta Opare Kwakye, wife of the Moderator; and several ministers of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
