Rev. Benjamin Appiah, Chairperson of the Brong Ahafo Presbytery, has delivered a strong charge to the 2025 Intake of Special Ministerial Training (SMT) students at the Ramseyer Training Centre (RTC), Abetifi, urging them to uphold doctrinal integrity as the foundation of their ministry.
Speaking during his closing devotion and mentorship session, Rev. Appiah reminded the trainee ministers that faithfulness to sound doctrine is not optional but essential for effective ministry. He emphasised that the primary calling of every minister is to preach the Word of God with clarity and conviction. “You must have ready-made sermons; get yourself prepared,” he said. “Don’t let people dictate to you what to preach, or what they want to hear.”
He urged the students to work according to the will of their Master, Jesus Christ, who chose them for ministry. Faithfulness, he noted, often attracts divine support. “When you are faithful, there’s the possibility of God giving you ministry helpers,” he said. He encouraged them to endure hardship and to ensure that even their words in difficult moments are a blessing.
Rev. Appiah further admonished the students to study diligently and use sound biblical resources. “Let your sermons warm hearts,” he said, calling for perseverance, doctrinal integrity, and spiritual depth. He warned against false teachings and the temptation to imitate flawed practices. “You’re a Presbyterian minister. Remain as such and depend on the Lord,” he declared.
Rev. Appiah offered five practical lessons: maintain daily quiet time, set clear goals and prioritise tasks, surround yourself with supportive people, stay rooted in Scripture, and take care of your health. “Rest and recharge. Your health is important—check your diet. Consider what you eat,” he advised.
