‘Win more soul for Christ’. Moderator.

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante has reiterated the need for Christians to redouble their efforts to win more souls for Christ.

The Rt. Rev Prof. Mante said this at the 2021 National Launch of Evangelism Week of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at the Trinity Congregation, Tarkoradi on Sunday, 14th March, 2021.

The 2021 Evangelism Week is under the theme; Let Christ be formed in you: Equipping the Saints for Ministry in Christ.

The Moderator said the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has as its mission, to improve Church Growth through evangelism and nurture to fulfil the Great Commission as commanded by our Lord Jesus Christ.

He said in August 2005, the Church took a decision to grow by 10% each year. Unfortunately, the Church had not been able to do this. It was therefore important that a critical review on the approach to evangelism and methods employed to be accountable each year.

“Upon considerable reflection on the Church’s approach to evangelism and the staggering growth, it was evident that we needed a clearer path to attain the objective of 10% growth each year “he said.

He said, based on this, the idea of growing the Church to one million, five hundred thousand members by 2023 was birthed which is termed Vision 1.5.

He said for the first time the Church’s population has passed 1 million people mark and it is expected that by 2023 the population would grow to 1.5 million.

The Moderator said, the whole world was in darkness and that it would take Christians to bring the light of Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.

The Moderator urged Christians to live according to the gospel, so that their godly lives would be an example and draw others to Christ. 

He said events around the world has called for massive evangelism and revival among the church.

The Moderator mentioned that the General Assembly Office of the PCG is putting up 300 pavilions mostly in rural areas to enable church members get a decent place of worship instead of worshiping under trees, classroom and peoples living rooms.

Preaching the sermon on the theme; Let Christ be formed in you: Equipping the saints for ministry in Christ, the Western Presbytery Chairperson of the PCG, Rev Timothy Ernest Annor appealed to Christians to pray to God so that he would send more soul winners into the harvest field for them to win souls into the kingdom of God.

He said without Jesus there was no eternal life, hence, Christians have a big task of bringing others into the eternal kingdom of God.

Rev Dr. Emmanuel K. Sarbah, Director of Mission and Evangelism of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana mentioned that the various congregations would also launch the evangelism week on Sunday 16th May 2021 with the main celebration on starting from 17th to 23rd May 2020. He appealed to agents of the Church to prepare well in order to make this year’s celebration unique.

The Moderator presented 10 motor-bikes to the Western Presbytery to support evangelism and church growth in rural areas.
