YPG organizes Empowerment Summit Cohort 1
The National Secretariat of the Young People’s Guild organised Secretarial Empowerment Summit for some Guild Officers in 8 Presbyteries of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. The Secretarial Empowerment Summit Cohort 1 was organised on 3rd January, 2022 at the Church House for the Akyem Abuakwa, West Akyem, Ga West, Akuapem, Volta, Dangme-Tongu, Central and Ga Presbyteries.
The National Guild President, Mr. Ezekiel Teye Nartey Adjorlolo speaking at the summit, exposed the Guild leaders of their biblical mandate. He also took time to explain the rationale and spirit behind some policies and decisions of the National Guild. The National President noted that it was relevant to expose Guild leaders at the grassroots to the policies and decisions since their mandate was to facilitate the implementation of such policies and decisions at the very lower levels of the Guild.
The General Secretary, Mr. Francis Frimpong guided the Guild leaders on how to actually facilitate the implementation of the decisions and policies of the Guild. The General Secretary exposed participants to approaches in administrating the Guild to achieve results and also a step-by-step process in developing a results-oriented report. Participants were empowered on how to utilize the Guild Database Management System to ensure a clean and all-inclusive management system of the Guild.
The summit also explored strategies which could be employed in compiling proposals for the amendment of the Guild’s Constitution. The Ga Presbytery Superintendent, Mr. Sylvannus Meeyeoya Afotey and the West Akyem Presbytery Superintendent, Mr. Ebenezer Afum were present to assist the National Secretariat to facilitate the summit.
It is glad and refreshing to also note that the Ga Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Dr Nana Opare Kwakye passed through the summit to encourage the Guild leaders. He also used the opportunity to expose participants to some youth related projects of the General Assembly Council. The Chairperson gave highlights on the Presbyterian Youth Missionaries Movement, the Presbyterian TV, and the Shepherding Model (a project which is currently at the piloting stage).
The Assistant General Secretary, Mr. Lennox Mintah led participants to evaluate the summit and all participants expressed so much joy and gratitude to the National Guild for organising the summit. They admonished that more of such empowerment Programmes be organised to equip Guild leaders for effective youth work.
