JESUS CHRISTMAS STREET PARTY ORGANIZED BY THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF GHANA ACROSS THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA
The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has once again made history on 26th December, 2024 with its innovative, soul touching and spiritually uplifting event dubbed the Jesus Christmas Street Party. This annual event took thousands of congregants to streets and their communities with food, drinks, water, toffees etc. to share with people on the street to celebrate and share the love of Christ in a joyous and vibrant atmosphere. The event was simultaneously organized across all Presbyteries of the church, spreading the message of hope, unity, and salvation throughout the nation.
Ga West Presbytery Hosts Principal Officers of PCG
The Ga West Presbytery played host to the Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, the Moderator of the General Assembly, who was ably assisted by the Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor. Their presence added a unique dimension of inspiration and leadership to the celebration, underscoring the significance of the event.
Addressing, the crowd, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye emphasized the importance of taking the gospel beyond the church walls, saying, “This street party is not just an event; it is a mission. We are called to proclaim the love of Jesus Christ to everyone, and today, the streets of Ghana are our mission field.” He encouraged participants to continue living out their faith in Christ boldly in their daily interactions.
Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor also took the opportunity to highlight the unifying power of such events, noting that they reflect the core values of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in fostering love, togetherness, and outreach.
A Nationwide Celebration
Each Presbytery creatively organized their street parties, featuring a blend of evangelistic outreaches, musical performances, prayer sessions, Bible teachings, and recreational activities. The streets were filled with banners, vibrant singing, and dancing, drawing the attention of onlookers and inviting them to join the celebration.
Key highlights included:
Evangelistic Engagements. Teams of church members shared the gospel message with passersby, distributing tracts, food, and inviting them to church programs.
Music and Dance. Spirit-filled songs of adorations, gospel songs amid choreography were ministered to participants, creating an atmosphere of joy and worship.
Children’s Activities such as special games – trampoline, swimming, storytelling, and Bible quizzes were organized in some areas to engage children and introduce them to the love of Jesus Christ.
Free Health Screenings took place in some of the spots. Some Presbyteries provided free medical checkups and health education, demonstrating the holistic mission of the church.
Testimonials of Transformation
The event was marked by numerous testimonies of lives being touched and transformed. Several individuals who had never attended church expressed their gratitude for the outreach, with some deciding to join the PCG.
One participant remarked, “I felt God’s love in a way I never have before. This is not just a party; it’s an encounter with Christ.”
A Call to Sustain the Momentum
The Jesus Christmas Street Party showcased the Presbyterian Church of Ghana’s commitment to innovative evangelism and community engagement. It reinforced the church’s role as a beacon of light and hope in Ghana, living out its mission of bringing people to the saving knowledge of Christ.
As the curtains close on this successful event, the Moderator has called on all Presbyteries to sustain the momentum by initiating follow-up programs to nurture the spiritual growth of those who were impacted.
