Presbyterian Church of Ghana Inaugurates 200 Years Anniversary Celebration Committee
The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) on Holy Saturday 16th April 2022 inaugurated a committee to plan activities for the celebration of the 200 years anniversary of the formation of the Church which is slated for 18th December, 2028. The inauguration of the committee took place at the Osu Eben-Ezer Congregation.
Inaugurating the committee the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, the Right Reverend Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante charged the committee to think through the future of the Church, launch a historical document about the church, to celebrate the 200 years, define ways and means to complete the cherished Kuntunse project so that its dedication will be one of the major events to climax the 200 years anniversary and also attend to any other incidental matters of importance to the Church.
The Moderator paid a growing tribute to all those who have contributed to the growth of the Church since its formation.
The Clerk of the General Assembly and the Chairman of the committee on behalf of the committee members pledged the work according to the rules and within their mandate to ensure a successful celebration.
The 24-member committee is chair by the Rev Dr Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, the Clerk of the General Assembly of the PCG. Other members are Very Rev Prof. Emmanuel Martey former Moderator of the General Assembly, Rev Herbert Anim Opong, former Clerk of the General Assembly, two current members of the General Assembly in th persons of Rev Enoch Adjei Pobee, Chairperson for the Ga West Presbytery and Ms. Evangeline Amegashie, Lay Representative for Akuapem Presbytery, two young theologians in the persons of Rev Dr J.W Acheampong and Rev Dr Charles Amakwei, a church historian in the person of Rev Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, Ga Presbytery Chairperson and the immediate past Clerk of Presbytery of the North America Australia Presbytery Prof Mrs Mabel Asante.
Other members are, immediate past clerk of Europe Presbytery, Rev Benjamin Appiah, chairman of the Projects and Investment Committee of the Church, Dr S.S.Y Yirenkyi, The Legal Officer of the Church, Mr. Richard Duah-Ansah, National Presidents of the Men’s and Women’s Fellowship in the persons of Mr. Amo Owusu Budu and Mrs. Paulina Afful Arthur respectively.
Others include the national YAF President Dr Philip Kankam, national Youth President, Mr. Ezekiel Adzololo, national JY Leaders President Mr. Moses Sasraku, National Children Service Teachers President, all Directors at the General Assembly Office as ex-officio Members. They are; Rev. Esther Oduro – Director, CLAN, Mrs. Rosamond Amoako-Apenteng Director, Education, Rev. E. N. A. Ashittey -Director, ESR, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel K. Sarbah- Director, M&E, Mr. Alex De-Graft Hanson – Director, Finance, Mrs. Rebecca Teiko Sabah -Director, DSS Mr. F. Ohene Kwafo -Director, AHRM.
The rest are the Property Manager, Mr. Patrick Nii Owusu Armah ex-officio member and Rev George Ezekiel Larbi the Public Relations Officer of the Church as ex-officio Member.
