World-Wide Prayer Marathon

On Sunday, January 12, 2025, the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) organized a worldwide prayer marathon, uniting congregations across the globe on a day of collective supplication and thanksgiving. This event organized twice a year saw the first of 2025 in a grand Holy Spirit-filled session crowned at the Grace Congregation, Akropong.

Before the prayer session, the National M&E organized a street evangelism and health walk from Mamfe to Akropong on the 11th of January. People were reached with the word and encouraged to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. This introduced or reechoed Christ to them with a strong hope that the Spirit of God would continue to minister to them.

The prayer marathon commenced on Sunday morning, with members gathering in their respective churches to seek divine guidance for the nation’s future and express gratitude for past blessings. Presbyteries took turns on a Zoom online platform with a Live telecast on PCGTV in teams to take on the button and hand it over in chains. The Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Opare Kwakye, led the final service at the Grace Congregation, Akropong, emphasizing the importance of unity and faith in prayer.

The event featured various activities, including scripture readings, hymns, and intercessory prayers focusing on themes such as peace, national development, Christian growth, God’s grace and mercy, and the well-being of Christians (Presbyterians) and the Church. Special prayers were also offered for the church and national leadership, asking for wisdom and integrity in governance.

The Presbyterian Worldwide Prayer Marathon exemplifies the church’s dedication to fostering spiritual growth and national unity. As the Church gets set to start the PResbyterian Conference Center at Kutunse this year, prayers for resources, and skilled workers for a perfect job with accident-free on-site were also offered. For this new year, the church plans to engage in various activities aimed at strengthening its mission and contributing meaningfully to Ghana’s moral and socio-economic development.
