Moderator Opare Kwakye Dedicates Bauer Congregation Chapel at Banko
The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye has dedicated the Bauer Congregation Chapel at Banko in the Sekyere Presbytery. The dedication which was part of a special service on Sunday, 19th January, 2025 brought together people across the entire Presbytery.
The chapel was built in honor and loving memory of Mr. Stephen Bonnah of Mampong Ashanti and Mr. Aboagye Kwarteng of Banko for their immense contributions to the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and specifically, the Bauer Congregation where they both served as members and later Presbyters for a long time.
The Moderator in a sermon on the theme “God’s Signs and Gifts” admonished the congregation never to give up in life as a lesson from Mary, mother of Jesus in John chapter 2 who was not discouraged by Jesus’ initial response when the wedding ran out of wine. Rt. Rev. Dr. Kwakye also encouraged them that whatever jar (level of faith, deeds and expectation) carried to Jesus is what He also responds to and blesses back hence they were to go to Jesus with clean hearts and deeds.
The construction of the Chapel which had stalled for years at the preliminary stage received a new breath of life when a couple willingly showed up to help the Congregation through the roofing but ended up helping throughout the entire construction. The new chapel which has about 1500 seating capacity also has offices, Washrooms, Gallery and other facilities in it.
The service was graced by Rev. Sam Foster Kwakye, Sekyere Presbytery Chairperson; Rev. Seth Owusu Koranteng, Sekyere Presbytery Clerk; Rev. Samuel Kwesi Amoako, District Minister for Banko, the Sekyere Presbytery Council and Representatives of Bankohene.
