2025 CLAN MODERATORIAL FORUM
The 2025 Church Life and Nurture Moderatorial Forum was a remarkable gathering of faith, fellowship, and reflection as the leadership of the generational and service groups of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana came together. Under the theme “Celebrating our Heritage: Persisting in Mission – Ministry Groups as Partners,” the event underscored the pivotal role of the ministry groups in advancing the Church’s vision and mission.
Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, Moderator of the General Assembly, provided dynamic leadership, ensuring that the event was not only a time of celebration but also an opportunity for strategic engagement among various ministry groups. The generational groups: Men’s Fellowship, Women’s Fellowship, Young Adults Fellowship, Young Peoples’ Guild, Junior Youth, Children’s Service, and the service groups: Church Choir, Singing Band, Boys’ & Girls Brigade, National Union of Presbyterian Students Union, Ghana, Brass Band, as essential partners in the Church’s mission, continue to play a crucial role in spiritual formation, evangelism, and community development.
Keynote Address
A major highlight of the forum was the keynote address delivered by Rev. Gideon B. Puplampu, Director, Ramseyer Training Center, Abetifi, a distinguished Minister whose insights illuminated the importance of groups’ partnership in mission. He emphasized that group partnership is of essence and if any group isolates, it deceives and cheats all, becoming a drain on the Presbyterian Church. Rev. Puplampu quizzed, “Should ministry groups be led by disciple-makers or authority holders, if all, which should be primary?” He concluded by encouraging the groups to remain steadfast in their efforts, drawing strength from the Church’s heritage while embracing new opportunities for outreach and nurture.
Honouring Young Talents: Essay and Artwork Competitions
On the Sunday, 23rd February, 2025, a memorable service was marked by a joyous celebration of the Children’s Day as the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, assisted by the Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, presented awards to the winners of the 2024 Moderator’s Essay and Artwork Competitions. The topic for the Essay and Artwork Competition was “Jesus Christ is our Hope in all Situations.” These competitions are organized among the Children’s Service from the Congregational levels, where the best three is sent to the Districts, then the best three is again selected to the Presbytery, then the Presbyteries select their best three to the Head Office and the final best three is selected for the awards.

The winners of these competitions were given Bible, Hymnal, half piece of PCG cloth, Certificate and Educational Scholarship of different amount depending on their positions. The competition provides a platform for young members of the Church to express their faith and understanding of the topic through creative writing and artistic expression.
By recognizing and celebrating the talents of the younger generation, the Church reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing future leaders who will carry forward the mission of Christ. The enthusiastic participation and outstanding submissions from the children reflected the depth of their spiritual engagement and their appreciation for the Church’s heritage.
A Call to Continued Partnership
As the forum concluded, there was a renewed sense of commitment among all attendees to persist in mission with vigor and dedication. Ministry groups led by Rev. Joshua Bossman Ohene, Director for CLAN, pledged to continue their work in synergy to strengthen the Church’s impact on members and the society.
Under the guidance of Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, the Presbyterian Church of Ghana remains poised to advance its mission through faithful service, innovation, and collaboration. The Moderator also indicated that, “In order to nurture Christ-like members, it is important to plan CLAN programmes with a focus on discipleship.”
The CLAN family which forms the nurturing structure of the church were reminded of the challenges in the ministry, but we never give up. Papa Kwakye emphasized that heritage is not merely about reminiscing on the past but about leveraging historical foundations to inspire and propel future growth in ministry. He charged, “PCG groups must keep reflecting on this: How can the group become a vehicle to achieve Agenda 2 Million?” Speaking on the Kutunse Project of the Church, Moderator Opare Kwakye informed the leaders that, the project has been on the table for almost 30 years but this is the time to make it a reality. He informed the forum that on March 7, 2025, the General Assembly Council will be handing over the site to the contractor for the commencement of the project. The generational groups committed to support the project with substantial amount.
The 2025 CLAN Moderatorial Forum was more than a gathering—it was a reaffirmation of the Church’s unwavering mission. As we celebrate our heritage, we are called to persist in our divine assignment, knowing that God, who has begun this good work in us, will surely bring it to fulfillment.
