IJM Pays Courtesy Call on Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana

A delegation from International Justice Mission (IJM), accompanied by their partners from the United States, paid a courtesy call on the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye. The meeting took place at the Church’s Head Office, where the Moderator warmly welcomed the team to Ghana and commended their commitment to promoting justice and human dignity.

During the visit, the IJM team shared video insights into their ongoing project focused on combating child trafficking, particularly in the fishing communities along Lake Volta. They highlighted the alarming realities of children being exploited in hazardous labour and the need for collaborative efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and reintegrate victims. The delegation emphasized the importance of community awareness, the Church’s advocacy of God’s justice along God’s mercies and legal reform to strengthen child protection mechanisms across the country.

They extended an invitation to the Moderator to the National Justice Conference to be held on August 27, 2025.

In response, the Moderator expressed deep concern over the plight of trafficked children and pledged the Church’s support in advocating for their freedom and well-being. He underscored the need to bring on board religious, political and traditional leaders end this injustice. The Moderator assured the IJM team of the Presbyterian Church’s commitment to partner in raising awareness, supporting rescue missions, and amplifying advocacy for lasting change. The Moderator presented to each team member a PCG customized souvenir.

The Moderator met the IJM team in the company of Rev. Joshua Bossman Ohene, CLAN Director/Ag. Clerk of GA, Mrs. Rebecca Teikoh Sabah, DSS Director, Rev. Ebenezer Ahenkan Owusu, PCG Public Relations Officer.
