Help us secure our heritage – GA Clerk urges PCG lawyers
Lawyers of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has been tasked to lead the church to secure lands and properties bequeathed to us. The lawyers have, through their enormous legal work and expertise, aided the church in not only acquiring but also protecting our properties.
This, the Clerk of the General Assembly of the PCG, Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, believes, has led the church to retain many of its landed properties. In his address at the 2025 Annual PCG Lawyers Consultation on Court Cases and Legal Issues at the Presbyterian Women’s Training Centre, Abokobi, Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, applauded the work of the PCG’s lawyers.
He stated that law and faith could walk together and stressed that the heritage of the PCG must be seen not only in faith but also in tangible ways. He argued that the PCG schools, hospitals, chapels, and mission houses are all on land, and these properties among others constitute our heritage.
He charged the lawyers to continuing working hard saying that “Court room battles; their legal opinion and vigilance are ministries in themselves” and that winning court cases was as important as securing the PCG’s landmarks. Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor added that the PCG’s lawyers must not see the annual consultation as only reviewing cases but also as their service to God because they were ministers of justice in God’s vineyard.
He observed that land in Ghana was under pressure. The church was not exempted from this pressure and therefore lauded the lawyers for their sacrifice, urging them to come up with whatever would help the PCG to secure its property.
