The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye concluded the fourth day of his weeklong tour of the Western Presbytery with renewed calls for trust in Jesus Christ as the Church’s true foundation, unity among members, and unwavering support for church programmes.
Manso Amenfi: Encouragement and Support
Stopping at the newly inaugurated Manso Amenfi District en route to Anyinase, the Moderator interacted with Agents, caretakers, presbyters, and congregants, continuing the pattern of engagement seen in earlier visits to Pedu, Assin Fosu, Bogoso, Tarkwa, and Enchi.
He reiterated his core message of keeping faith in God and building on the foundation already laid with Jesus Christ is the true foundation. He emphasised the importance of unity and diligent service and urged the gathering not to give up in their spiritual life.
In a gesture of support, the Moderator donated GHS 5,000 to the new district and prayed for divine strength to guide their journey. “Support the bicentennial celebration, Agenda 2Million, and the Kutunse Project wholeheartedly,” he advised.
Anyinase District: Strengthening Faith and Promoting Legacy
At the Anyinase District, the Moderator continued his message of spiritual resilience, warning against division and encouraging congregants to remain rooted in godly teachings. “Push the message of the Lord Jesus Christ who is our foundation,” he said. “Let the word of God permeate every aspect of your lives. Let it strengthen you” he added.
He also addressed the upcoming end-of-tenure service for the Clerk of General Assembly, Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, scheduled for 30th November, and commended his diligent service. He announced that Rev. David Aboagye-Danquah will assume the role of Clerk from 1st December 2025.
Bicentennial Bibles and Church Growth Initiatives
The Moderator urged congregants to actively participate in the Bicentennial celebration, highlighting the significance of the special bicentennial Bibles printed in local languages. “These are legacy Bibles, not just ordinary ones,” he said. “They contain rich materials about the Church and make perfect Christmas gifts for ourselves, family, and friends.”
He reinforced the importance of Agenda 2Million and the Kutunse Project, thanking the Anyinase District for their contributions and encouraging continued support for the construction efforts.
Concerns and Feedback from Congregants
During the question-and-answer session, congregants raised issues including pricing of church paraphernalia, ministerial qualification requirements, support for congregations and districts, and language accessibility on PCG TV. There was a strong call for more local language broadcasts, such as Twi, to ensure broader understanding and engagement with the Church’s television content.
