Moderator Invites Public to Experience PCG story
The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has urged members and the wider public to visit the ongoing 2nd Bicentennial Exhibition at the Eben-Ezer Congregation, Osu, describing it as a unique opportunity to reflect on the church’s journey of faith and service.
Speaking at the official opening, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye noted that the 200-year history of the PCG has been marked by both “difficult and joyful moments.” He acknowledged that the church has endured troubling times but stressed that the exhibition provides a chance to see and appreciate the resilience and growth of the PCG.
“Our story is the story of Christianity in Ghana,” he said. “We shouldn’t only be fascinated but inspired by what we see at the exhibition.” The Moderator explained that the Bicentennial Committee has been working steadily to document and showcase the church’s heritage.
The first exhibition was held in Abetifi during the General Assembly, and the Osu edition marks the second phase of the celebrations. The exhibition features items from various congregations, including artifacts dating back to the early years of the church, as well as displays highlighting the PCG’s contributions to commerce, trade, education, and healthcare.
Special days and times are expected to be allocated for schoolchildren to visit the exhibition grounds, ensuring that younger generations also connect with the church’s legacy. The Moderator encouraged all Presbyterians and the public to take part in the exhibition, drawing inspiration from the church’s enduring witness and its role in national development.
