Respect Christian Mission School Ethos – Moderator

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has called for greater respect for the identity and ethos of Christian mission schools, stressing that peaceful coexistence is possible when students of other faiths acknowledge the values of the institutions they choose to attend.

Speaking at the 87th Speech and Prize Giving Day celebration of the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (Presec-Legon), held under the theme “Celebrating Our Heritage: Shaping Future Leaders Through Discipline and Academic Excellence,” the Moderator said it was possible to accommodate students of other faiths, but it was equally necessary to respect the rights of Christian mission school owners.

We’ve had peace because we have coexisted for a long time. People of other faith in our schools must respect the ethos of those who built the schools, he noted. He urged all stakeholders to ensure that the rights of persons of other religions are respected, while also safeguarding the Christian identity of mission schools.

The Moderator the headmaster, Mr. David Odjija, the teaching and non-teaching staff for their hard work and commitment. He applauded the academic excellence of the students and encouraged them to remain Christian gentlemen.

The Moderator congratulated the 2000 (Y2K) Year Group for their efforts in supporting the anniversary celebration. He pledged continued backing from the Presbyterian Church of Ghana to the school. He also expressed appreciation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, for his support towards the event.
