The National President of the Bible Study and Prayer Group (BSPG) of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Richard Owusu-Afriyie (Ph.D.), has called on members to live on nothing but on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ.
He said BSPG members and Christians for that have no basis for their faith except that which was established by Jesus Christ, emphasising that, a life built on Christ would survive any test it encounters because the foundation was strong.
Delivering his New Year message at the 60th Anniversary Convention of the BSPG at the Royal Parade Grounds, KNUST, Kumasi, he reminded members that the year’s theme, “Celebrating Our Heritage: Building on the Foundation Already Laid – With Perseverance” challenges them to remain steadfast in their faith.
He urged members to emulate the perseverance of the group’s founders, who overcame difficulties to establish BSPG within the PCG, and to continue building with joy, faith, humility, sacrifice, and integrity. “Although Jesus Christ remains our unshakable foundation, drifting away from biblical principles weakens and undermines that foundation,” he cautioned.
Dr. Richard Owusu-Afriyie recalled that the BSPG was given recognition at the 37th Synod held at KNUST in 1966 during the tenure of Moderator E. M. L. Odjidja. The 60th anniversary celebrations, launched in August 2025, will climax with a National Encounter Programme from September 3–6, 2026, which will also serve as an award ceremony.
