The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) is set to host a Global Presbyterian Prayer Marathon on Sunday, 18th January 2026, under the theme “Celebrating Our Heritage: Building on the Foundation Already Laid Through Prayer.”
The event, which will be led by the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, will take place from 7pm to 10pm at the Friedrich Monninger Congregation in Akosombo, Volta Presbytery. It will be broadcast live on PCG TV and streamed across the church’s social media platforms.
Anchored on scripture references from 1 Corinthians 3:10–11, Psalm 127:1, and Acts 2:42, the prayer marathon forms part of the church’s bicentennial momentum, emphasising prayer as a foundational tool for growth, unity, and mission.
In preparation for the main event, all presbyteries will engage in street evangelism on Saturday, 17th January, followed by a coordinated prayer chain on Sunday afternoon from 1pm to 7pm. These activities are designed to mobilise congregations nationwide in spiritual renewal and public witness.
The Moderator is expected to lead intercessory prayers focused on the church’s mission, national peace, youth engagement, and global outreach. The programme also aims to rekindle the PCG’s identity as a praying church rooted in Scripture and committed to transformation.
Members across Ghana and beyond are encouraged to participate actively, both in person and online, as the church unites in prayer to build on its historic foundation.
