The Ramseyer Training Centre (RTC), Abetifi, has welcomed back the 2025 intake of the Special Ministerial Training (SMT) programme to commence their Minor Session One.

Nearly 80 students from Presbyteries of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) worldwide arrived on Sunday, 11th January 2026, and by 5pm had congregated for their ‘Opening and Commitment Service’.

The Minor Session One marks a significant stage in their ministerial formation, combining spiritual renewal with academic rigour. While in school, the students will engage in intensive courses designed to deepen their theological knowledge and sharpen their pastoral skills.

Subjects scheduled for studies include New Testament Studies, Old Testament Studies, Biblical Hermeneutics, Christian Doctrine, Christian Spirituality, Mission and Evangelism, Liturgics, and language courses in Biblical Greek and Biblical Hebrew.

Other courses will focus on practical ministerial duties, including Funeral and Widowhood Services, Dedication, and Naming and Outdooring Ceremonies. Students will participate in group practices, presentations, and mentorship sessions.

The SMT is designed to prepare ministers for effective service in congregations worldwide, equipping them to uphold Presbyterian traditions while addressing contemporary pastoral challenges. The arrival of the students sets the tone for a year of learning, fellowship, and preparation, as the PCG invests in raising ministers who will carry forward its evangelistic and pastoral mission.
