Ga Presbytery outdoors Shepherd’s Care initiative
The Ga Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has officially launched the Shepherd’s Care initiative, a programme designed to strengthen the wellbeing of ministers and their families.
The launch was led by the Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Col. David Adoteye-Asare, at the Family Get-Together of the Ga Presbytery Ministers’ Fellowship and Spouses Conference held at the Praise Congregation, Atomic Hills Estate last Sunday. A dedicated Shepherd’s Care Committee was inaugurated, comprising Rev. Dr. Kofi Aidoo, Rev. Agyaaku Ofosu, Rev. Mrs. Comfort Leticia A. Yeboah, Dr. Mrs. Dora Awuah, Mrs. Alberta Asante, and Mrs. Rebecca Obuobisa-Darko.
Speaking at the launch, Rev. Col. Adoteye-Asare explained that the committee has been tasked with providing emotional and mental health support for ministers and their families. He emphasised that pastors often carry heavy emotional, spiritual, and relational burdens as they care for others, and continuous exposure to stress and expectations can affect their wellbeing if not properly addressed.
The Shepherd’s Care initiative will therefore provide counseling and structured support to help ministers remain healthy, resilient, and effective in ministry, ensuring that those who shepherd God’s people are themselves cared for. The launch reaffirms the Ga Presbytery’s commitment to healthy ministers, strong families, and sustainable ministry, recognising that the strength of the church depends on the wellbeing of its leaders.
