Head office staff trained in fire safety
Staff of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) Head Office have been taken through a comprehensive fire safety training aimed at strengthening workplace and home safety and emergency preparedness.
The training was facilitated by A D O 1 Robert Lamptey, a Fire Training Officer from the Ghana National Fire Service, who took participants through the basics of fire, its causes, and effective prevention methods. He explained that fire occurs when oxygen, heat, and fuel come together and emphasized the need to identify and eliminate fire hazards in offices and homes.
Key topics included electrical safety, safe handling of gas cylinders, and generator use, with practical tips on preventing electrical overloads, gas leakages, and other common fire risks. Staff were also educated on the various types of fire extinguishers and their specific uses.
The training concluded with a practical session outside, on the church compound, where staff were shown how to properly use fire extinguishers and safely put out common domestic fires led by A C F O II Evans Osei Owusu, Deputy Regional Commander, Greater Accra, assisted by L F M Joseph Zowornu, a Safety Officer. The session reinforced the importance of fire prevention, preparedness, and safety consciousness at all times.
