Lay Reps converge in Abesim for retreat
The Lay Representatives to the General Assembly Council have gathered in Abesim, within the Brong Ahafo Presbytery, for their annual retreat scheduled from 5th to 8th February 2026. The retreat has drawn key leadership of the church, including the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Nana Opare Kwakye, and the Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. David Aboagye-Danquah.
The Chairperson of the Brong Ahafo Presbytery, Rev. Benjamin Appiah, is also present, underscoring the importance of the gathering. The purpose of the retreat mirrors that of the Presbytery Chairpersons’ annual retreat: to provide a dedicated time for reflection, renewal, and strategic planning.
It offers lay representatives to the GAC, the opportunity to deepen their understanding of their role in governance, strengthen fellowship, and align their work with the vision and mission of the church. Sessions are expected to cover topics such as effective leadership, stewardship, and the integration of faith and service in the administration of the PCG.
In his opening remarks, the Moderator encouraged participants to use the retreat as a time of prayer, study, and dialogue, reminding them that leadership in the church is both a calling and a responsibility.
The Clerk of the General Assembly also highlighted the importance of collaboration between clergy and laity, stressing that the retreat provides a platform for building stronger bonds of unity and shared vision. Rev. Benjamin Appiah, Chairperson of the Brong Ahafo Presbytery, welcomed the participants warmly to Abesim and assured them of the Presbytery’s support throughout the retreat.
