Day two of the Moderator’s pastoral tour of the Central Presbytery began with a lively reception in Agona Swedru. The Swedru Zone, which comprises Swedru, Swedru North, Kwanyako, and Winneba districts, turned out in full force to welcome the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye.
The Moderator touched down in the township to a cheerful welcome that captured the joy and anticipation of the people. His vehicle and entourage were met just before entering the central business district, where excitement had already filled the streets.
Brass band music resounded through the air as the Presbyterian Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade marched proudly, ushering the Moderator’s entourage into the compound of Bethel Congregation.
The atmosphere was festive, marked by cheers, music, and the disciplined rhythm of the brigade. The Moderator’s vehicle was guided safely to a stop, after which he and his wife, Mrs. Benedicta Kwakye were officially received by the Central Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Fiifi Foh Arkhurst; Presbytery Clerk, Rev. Albert Baffour Koomson; and the Swedru District Minister, Rev. Stephen Kofi Anarfi.
Ministers, presbyters, and congregants gathered eagerly to share fellowship and hear from their pastoral leader. The Moderator’s pastoral tour is designed to strengthen ties between the General Assembly Office and local congregations.
In Swedru, the Moderator is expected to interact with congregants, agents, and church leaders, encouraging them in their mission and reminding them of the vision of the church.
He will remain in the Central Presbytery throughout the week, visiting districts across the presbytery before concluding his tour on Sunday. His presence is seen as a source of inspiration, renewing zeal for ministry and reaffirming the church’s collective mission.
