The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, continued his pastoral visit to the Brong Ahafo Presbytery with stops in the Kintampo District and the Nkoranza Districts, delivering messages of faith, unity, and renewal.
At Kintampo, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, the Moderator and his wife, Mama Benedicta, were warmly welcomed by members of the District. He conveyed greetings from the General Assembly Council and commended congregants for their steadfast faith and contributions to the growth of the Church.
Addressing students of the National Union of Presbyterian Students – Ghana (NUPS-G) from the College of Health, he urged them to channel their youthful energy into missionary work, encouraging active participation in the Presbyterian Students in Church Evangelism (P-SICE).
Drawing from his own experience of leading NUPS-G students on mission programmes three decades ago, he reminded them of the lasting impact of such engagements. The Moderator emphasized that the Presbyterian Church is “a glorious Church” and urged the youth to remain committed to God’s mission within it.
He admonished members to keep their eyes fixed on Jesus, cautioning against distractions and offenses that hinder spiritual growth. To illustrate, he shared a story of a congregant tasked with balancing an egg on a spoon while walking around the Church premises.
The lesson, he explained, was clear: just as the congregant succeeded by keeping her eyes on the egg, believers must keep their eyes on Christ (Hebrews 12:2). He concluded by calling for unity, love, and togetherness, reminding members of the Church’s motto, “That They All May Be One” (John 17:21).
Later that day, the Moderator was joyfully received in Nkoranza and Nkoranza North Districts, where children, youth, and elders gathered to honour his visit. In a personal reflection, he revealed that Nkoranza holds a special place in his spiritual heritage, as his ancestor, Cat. William Opare, served as a Catechist there in 1914.
He recounted his excitement upon discovering his ancestor’s handwriting in the Victory Congregation’s Chronicle during a research project. Addressing the gathering, the Moderator highlighted the remarkable transformation of the PCG, noting its growing presence across the globe in places such as the United States, Dubai, China, South Korea, and Cuba.
He urged members to play their part in advancing the Church’s mission, especially as preparations intensify for the Bicentennial Anniversary in 2028. He reminded them of the Kutunse Conference Centre Project and the Agenda 2 Million vision, stressing that everyone has a role to make the anniversary truly memorable.
Concluding his message, the Moderator called on members to give serious attention to their walk with God, eschew ungodly attitudes, and dwell in love. He pronounced blessings upon the congregations, leaving them inspired to strengthen their faith and commitment to the mission of the Church.
