The Hope Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Kajanya, was filled with joy and reverence last Sunday as the church hosted a thanksgiving service to mark the 100th birthday of Madam Gladys Maakorkor Kudjo.

The centenarian, mother of the Director of the Ramseyer Training Centre (RTC), Abetifi, Rev. Gideon Buenor Puplampu, was celebrated in a colourful ceremony that blended worship and family honour.

The service drew notable guests, including the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, who not only preached but also offered prayers for Madam Kudjo and her family. Also present were the Moderator’s wife, Mrs. Benedicta Kwakye, and the wife of the Clerk of the General Assembly, Mrs. Evelyn Aboagye‑Danquah, along with staff and students of RTC.

Dressed in elegant white attire, the celebrant was surrounded by family, friends, and church members, many of whom wore coordinated blue and white outfits signifying grace and joy. The celebration featured heartfelt tributes and a symbolic cake‑cutting ceremony beneath golden “100” balloons.

Ministers and relatives took turns to have photographs with the celebrant, with bottles of sparkling drinks and floral arrangements adding colour to the festive atmosphere. Rev. Puplampu expressed deep gratitude to the Church and the Moderator for honouring his mother’s life and legacy.

The event was not only a celebration of age but a reaffirmation of faith, family, and the enduring strength of the Presbyterian witness in Ghana.
