The Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rev. David Aboagye‑Danquah, has paid a fraternal visit to the Administrative Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. William Agyei Mpere‑Gyekye, as part of efforts to deepen cooperation and strengthen inter‑church relations.

Welcoming the PCG delegation, Rt. Rev. Dr. Mpere‑Gyekye expressed heartfelt appreciation for the visit and stated the significant contributions both churches continue to make in the areas of education, health, and governance. He noted that the PCG and the Methodist Church Ghana share a rich history of nation‑building and expressed his desire to further cement the relationship between the two denominations.

In their discussions, Rev. Aboagye‑Danquah affirmed the longstanding bond between the churches, remarking, “The Presby‑Methodist tradition paved the way for others to come.” He added that many Ghanaians view the two churches as brothers because “there is far more that unites us than divides us.”

Rev. Aboagye‑Danquah stated the need for continued collaboration, stating that the Church of God must remain united in advancing the agenda of Christ. The Clerk also extended an early invitation to the Methodist Church Ghana to participate in the PCG’s upcoming bicentennial celebration, noting that a formal invitation would follow.

“We are taking the lead to celebrate 200 years, and when we are done, you will soon follow. We expect that you will also celebrate your bicentennial well,” he said. Rev. Aboagye‑Danquah presented one of the Bicentennial Bibles and the cloth to the Methodist Administrative Bishop. The visit forms part of the Clerk’s broader initiative to build stronger ecumenical ties with sister churches. It is his second such engagement this week, following an earlier visit to the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council.

Accompanying the Clerk were the Director of Ecumenical and Social Relations, Rev. Andrew Odjawu; the Director of Church Life and Nurture, Rev. Andrews Shardow; the Personal Assistant to the Clerk, Rev. Eugene Duodu; and the Public Relations Officer, Jerome Otchere. The Methodist delegation included the Assistant Administrative Bishop, Rev. Eric Paa Kwesi Amihere, who joined Rt. Rev. Dr. Mpere‑Gyekye in receiving the PCG team.
