Presbyterian Hospital, Agogo: Surgery Team leads session on head injury care
The Department of Surgery of the Presbyterian Hospital, Agogo, led by Dr. Reginald Frimpong Boateng, Specialist in General Surgery, on 14th May 2026 delivered an important clinical update on the management of head injuries during the hospital’s scheduled Clinical Meeting.
Presbyterian Hospital, Agogo continues to serve as the major referral centre for accident and trauma cases within the Asante Akyem enclave and surrounding municipalities. In recent months, the Emergency Unit has recorded a notable rise in head injury cases, prompting the Surgical Department to initiate a comprehensive update session to strengthen staff capacity and improve patient outcomes.
The presentation, delivered by Dr. Nana Frimpong‑Manso Buabeng, provided an in‑depth review of current best practices in the assessment, stabilisation, and treatment of head injuries. He highlighted early recognition, rapid intervention, and multidisciplinary coordination as critical factors in preventing complications and reducing mortality.
Dr. Buabeng also emphasised the importance of adhering to established clinical protocols, timely imaging, and continuous monitoring of patients with suspected traumatic brain injuries.
