Western Presbytery BSPG plants new church
The Western Presbytery’s Bible Studies and Prayer Group (BSPG) has successfully concluded its 2026 Presbyterial Convention with the planting of a new congregation at Amoamang in the Asankragua District — a significant outcome of this year’s intensive evangelistic efforts.
The four‑day convention, held from 21st to 24th May 2026 under the leadership of Professor Samuel Asiedu Owusu, brought together BSPG members from across the Presbytery for a series of ministry activities. The programme featured a talk on the theme, morning devotions, leadership training, house‑to‑house evangelism, crusades, and cinema evangelism, all aimed at strengthening discipleship and expanding the Church’s witness.
Speakers included Enchi District Minister, Rev. Samuel Ofosu Afari; Manso Amenfi District Minister, Rev. Alfred Gaise; Western Presbytery Mission and Evangelism Director, Rev. Samuel A. Okyere; and Western Presbytery BSPG Chaplain, Rev. Collins Danso.
Preaching at the thanksgiving service at the Redemption Congregation, Mission and Evangelism Director, Rev. Samuel A. Okyere, commended the BSPG leadership and members for their resilience despite heavy rains and flooding in the area. He reminded participants that perseverance in adversity is a mark of true discipleship, drawing inspiration from early Presbyterian pioneers such as Rev. Theophilus Opoku and Mrs. Susana Buo Gyankroma, whose unwavering dedication laid strong foundations for the Church.
The convention’s outreach efforts culminated in the planting of a new congregation at Amoamang, where eight people attended the inaugural service — including a Muslim woman and her daughter who joined the fellowship.
During the opening ceremony, the BSPG leadership presented a Citation of Honour to Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Dr. Joseph Apea Assamoah, in recognition of his unwavering support and guidance. A plaque of honour was also presented to the Asankragua District BSPG leadership for their dedication and excellence in hosting the convention.
