PCG, BENK HUGGS lead menstrual hygiene day campaign
The Presbyterian Church of Ghana, in partnership with the BENK‑HUGGS Foundation, will commemorate World Menstrual Hygiene Day with a national advocacy programme designed to promote dignity, education, and improved support for girls and women across the country.
The event comes off on Thursday, 28th May 2026, at the PCG Amasaman Congregation, under the theme: “Together for a Period‑Friendly Ghana.”
The programme will feature key facilitators including National Director of the Department of Social Services, Mrs. Teiko Sabah; Founder of the BENK‑HUGGS Foundation, Mrs. Benedicta Opare Kwakye; Counsellor, Mrs. Joyce Pulampu; and National Director of Education and General Manager of Schools, Mr. Daniel Yeboah Hienen.
Their presentations will address the urgent need for improved menstrual hygiene education, wider access to sanitary products, and the elimination of stigma surrounding menstruation.
Activities will include awareness sessions, counselling, demonstrations on proper menstrual hygiene practices, and the distribution of sanitary products to participants.
The initiative forms part of the PCG’s broader commitment to social protection and community empowerment, particularly for vulnerable groups, and reinforces the church’s advocacy for health, dignity, and equal opportunity for all girls.
