Volta Presbytery consecrates 16 catechists
A new chapter has opened in the life of the Volta Presbytery as sixteen newly trained catechists have officially been consecrated and accepted into the Presbytery after completing their formation at the Ramseyer Training Centre, Abetifi.
The service, held on Sunday, 24th May 2026 at the Ebenezer Congregation, Jasikan, was led by the Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Felix Akresu‑Anim Danso, with support from ministers and members of the Presbytery Council.
The solemn ceremony marked the commissioning of thirteen men and three women who will now serve across congregations within the Presbytery, supporting spiritual growth through faithful teaching, discipleship and pastoral care.
Preaching the sermon, the Director at the Ramseyer Training Centre and Chairperson‑Elect of the Dangme‑Tongu Presbytery, Rev. Gideon Buernor Puplampu emphasised the importance of intentional discipleship in the church. Drawing from Acts 2, he reminded the congregation that the early church grew rapidly because believers committed themselves to multiplying disciples.
He urged the newly consecrated catechists to mentor others faithfully, noting that the strength of the church depends on its ability to raise and nurture new disciples. Rev. Puplampu encouraged the Presbytery to embrace a culture of growth rooted in Scripture, prayer and service, stressing that every congregation has a role in advancing the mission of Christ.
During the service, the Chairperson and the Presbytery Council led the candidates through their consecration vows and prayed for them. Certificates were then presented to all sixteen Catechists as a formal affirmation of their readiness for ministry.
