Stronger digital discipline needed in church PR

Digital and Social Media Coach Maximus Ametorgoh has encouraged Public Relations Officers of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana to embrace modern technology with discipline and professionalism as the church positions itself as a 21st‑century institution.

He made the call on Day Two of the three‑day Presbytery Public Relations Officers Training Seminar at the Presbyterian Women’s Centre, Abokobi, where he delivered presentations on “Today’s Church Media: How to Navigate the Opportunities and Challenges” and “The Digital Church: Tooling the PCG as a 21st Century Church.”

He emphasised the need for data protection awareness within congregations, calling on PROs to expose church leaders to emerging trends in the digital space so they can appreciate the demands of modern communication.

He reminded participants that digital communication is not merely about posting content but about shaping narratives, protecting the church’s image, and ensuring that the Gospel is presented with accuracy and integrity. “If we fail to understand how digital platforms work, we lose the opportunity to reach people where they already are,” he noted.
