Allow people to operate in their God given gift
— Rev Frank Oguase Adu to newly ordained ministers
The Accra New Town District Minister, Rev. Frank Oguase Adu, has delivered a compelling charge centred on mentorship, delegation, spiritual intimacy, and purposeful service to the 2026 Ordination Service – Batch 3 at the Ascension Congregation, Akyem Oda, where 12 newly were ordained on Wednesday.
Preaching from 1 Kings 19:19–21 on the theme “Divine Call,” Rev. Frank Oguase Adu emphasised the importance of delegation and mentorship in ministry. “Allow people to operate in their God‑given gift,” he charged.
He warned against the tendency of some ministers to do everything alone, stressing that effective ministry requires preparing others to take over. the call to ministry is not self‑manufactured. “Being called isn’t human desire,” he said.
“Divine call is God’s sovereign invitation.” He stressed that God graciously calls people to salvation, discipleship, and leadership, adding that “every true ministry begins with God’s initiative.” He urged the newly ordained to recognise that their calling is purposeful.
“You are not called just like that,” he said. “You are called for a purpose. And that purpose is that through you, many more people will come to the saving knowledge of Christ.” According to him, the call of God carries both privileges and responsibilities, and ministers must be ready to answer those responsibilities with diligence and humility.
Drawing from the story of Elijah and Elisha, he reminded the ordinands that “Elisha received Elijah’s mantle,” showing that leadership must be passed on intentionally. He lamented that some ministers resist mentoring and discipline, noting that such attitudes weaken the church’s mission. “Take your time and learn,” he advised. “Nurture and guide people. We are one in the body of Christ.”
