The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has appealed to traditional authorities and local stakeholders to help protect the lands of Kibi Presbyterian College of Education from encroachment.
Speaking at the college’s graduation ceremony on Thursday, the Moderator expressed concern after observing signs of encroachment on portions of the institution’s land during a visit to the Principal’s residence, which overlooks the campus. He reminded the gathering that the land was generously donated by the local community for educational purposes and urged traditional leaders, local authorities, and residents to preserve it for future generations.
He noted that safeguarding the college’s land would enable the institution to expand its infrastructure and continue training highly qualified teachers who will contribute meaningfully to national development. According to him, graduates of the college become ambassadors not only of the institution but of Ghana wherever they serve.
To illustrate the global impact of education, the Moderator cited the achievement of a young woman who recently served as Chief Navigator on a space mission and had spent part of her academic journey at the University of Ghana. Her accomplishment, he said, demonstrates how education in Ghana can prepare individuals to excel internationally and bring honour to the nation.
The Moderator thanked traditional authorities, parents, friends of the college, and all stakeholders for their continued support. He encouraged them to work together to protect the institution and create an environment where quality teacher education can flourish. He concluded with a prayer for God’s blessings upon all present and expressed confidence that continued collaboration would secure the future of the college for generations to come.
