Donate historical materials to enrich research

The Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. David Aboagye‑Danquah, has appealed to individuals, institutions and Presbyteries to donate historical, academic and ecclesiastical materials to support the church’s growing research infrastructure.

The appeal was contained in his report to the 26th General Assembly, where he announced the establishment of a modest library at the Church House, Osu. Rev. Aboagye‑Danquah explained that the new library is the first step toward the church’s long‑term vision of creating a modern, fully resourced e‑library and research centre.

He noted that meaningful progress begins with deliberate foundational efforts, and the current facility will serve as a repository for important PCG documents and heritage materials.

The library will house key records such as Minutes of the General Assembly and General Assembly Council, reports of the church, Ad‑hoc Committee reports, Committee of Inquiry reports, theses and dissertations, and other ecclesiastical, academic and historical materials relevant to preserving the church’s heritage.

Rev. Aboagye‑Danquah encouraged members to visit the facility, share their experiences, and support leadership in building a resource centre befitting a church approaching two hundred years of ministry.

He emphasised that preserving history is a collective responsibility and that donated materials will provide valuable resources for future generations. “Together, we can preserve our history and provide valuable resources for generations yet unborn”, he ended.
