Commit yourselves to advancing with purpose

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare‑Kwakye, has urged the Salvation Congregation at Mile 7, Achimota, to celebrate God’s unfailing faithfulness and commit themselves to advancing with purpose as they mark their 50th Anniversary.

Preaching during the thanksgiving service, the Moderator congratulated the Session and members for their dedication in organising the celebration, describing fifty years of ministry as a testimony of God’s grace and the steadfast commitment of His people.

He said the anniversary theme, “50 Years of God’s Faithfulness and Grace: Advancing with Purpose,” calls the congregation not only to acknowledge God’s goodness over the past five decades but also to move forward with renewed vision and commitment.

He explained that faithfulness is one of God’s shared attributes, a quality God expects His children to emulate, and reminded worshippers that God does not change, does not lie, and always keeps His promises. Quoting Numbers 23:19, he emphasised that God fulfills what He declares, and Salvation Congregation’s fifty‑year journey is evidence that God has never abandoned His people.

Using the example of Abraham and Sarah, the Moderator illustrated how God consistently proves Himself faithful. He encouraged members to reflect on their own lives and recognise how God has sustained them through difficult seasons. He shared touching testimonies, recounting moments when circumstances looked hopeless, yet God provided unexpected help.

He also recalled stories of early Christian converts who endured persecution yet remained faithful, urging the congregation to emulate such steadfastness. He prayed that Ghana would become a nation that not only acknowledges God but truly trusts Him in daily life.

The Moderator said God’s faithfulness calls believers to walk faithfully with Him, keep their promises and live with integrity. He cautioned against making vows that are not fulfilled and urged leaders, including Christian politicians, to act faithfully when entrusted with authority.

He encouraged the congregation to trust God fully, reminding them of God’s assurance in Isaiah 43 that when His people pass through waters, rivers or fire, He will be with them, and they will not be overwhelmed.
