God will not abandon you
– Moderator reassures Salvation Congregation, Mile 7 Achimota
The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare‑Kwakye, brought smiles and quiet nods of relief to worshippers at the Salvation Congregation, Mile 7 – Achimota, when he reminded them that “God will not abandon you.”
Preaching at the congregation’s 50th Anniversary thanksgiving service, he said that even in moments when life feels overwhelming, God remains present, dependable and faithful. The Moderator shared ministry testimonies, including a time when everything seemed hopeless until God sent unexpected help.
The congregation responded warmly as he used these testimonies to illustrate that God often shows up in ways that surprise His people. He encouraged the congregants to look back on their own lives and recognise how God has carried them through difficult seasons.
Quoting Isaiah 43, he assured them that when God’s people pass through waters, rivers or fire, they will not be overwhelmed. “Sometimes we only see the problems,” he said, “but we forget the God who takes us through them.”
The Moderator urged the congregation to enter their next 50 years with confidence, joy and trust, knowing that the same God who has walked with them since their founding will continue to walk with them in the years ahead.
