The 26th General Assembly belongs to every Presbyterian, not only those who attended the sittings at Abetifi–Kwahu, the Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. David Aboagye‑Danquah, has said.
Speaking at a special PCG Connect session at the Zimmerman Congregation, Abokobi, on Tuesday, he explained that the broadcast was designed to “bring Abetifi to the doorstep of every Presbyterian,” ensuring that members clearly understand the decisions taken and the direction set for the church.
He outlined the nine major decisions of the Assembly, including amendments to Article 25(6) on General Assembly Council meetings, acceptance of the Church’s Occupational Health, Security and Safety Policy, and the widely discussed clarification on Stool, Skin and Palace Functionaries.
He stressed that the church has not changed its doctrine, reaffirming that “there is one God and one mediator… Christ Jesus.” The amendment, he said, clarifies how Christians may serve in civil traditional leadership roles while maintaining uncompromised allegiance to Christ.
The Clerk also highlighted the Assembly’s approval of expanded ICT guidelines covering Artificial Intelligence, the requirement for clearance before inviting non‑Presbyterian speakers to renewal services, and the acceptance of the 2025 audited financial statement.
He said these decisions reflect a church that is “moving forward with clarity, discipline and accountability.” Looking ahead to the church’s bicentennial celebration, Rev. Aboagye‑Danquah urged Presbyterians to recommit themselves to building a stronger Church.
“We celebrate our heritage so we can build forward,” he said, calling for spiritual vibrancy, discipline, technological readiness and deeper Christian maturity across congregations and Presbyteries.
