The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has urged members of the church in the Jubilee District Kasapin of the Brong Ahafo Presbytery, to remain rooted in sound doctrine and walk in genuine love and unity, stressing that these values are essential for the strength and growth of the Church.
“Let us walk in love and remain united as one body in Christ,” he said during his visit to the district as part of his weeklong pastoral tour. The Moderator was joyfully welcomed by members of the Jubilee District, Kasapin as the atmosphere was filled with jubilation when he arrived with his entourage.
The Jubilee District, elevated in 2016 during the Presbytery’s Golden Jubilee, now comprises seven congregations and ten preaching points, with a membership of 2,795. Ten years on, the District continues to make a strong impact in its mission.
The Moderator commended members for their faith and dedication to the work of God but cautioned them against the growing influence of false teachings.
The visit was marked by touching moments, including a testimony from a Men’s Fellowship member who expressed joy at meeting the Moderator for the first time, describing it as a special day in his life. The Moderator also used the occasion to educate members on the administrative structure of the PCG, explaining how preaching points, congregations, districts, and presbyteries all connect to the General Assembly.
He encouraged members to appreciate this system and support the Church’s work at every level. Later that day, the Moderator continued his pastoral visit at the Mim District, where he was received with great excitement. The District, elevated 25 years ago, has nurtured several distinguished leaders, including former Kwahu Presbytery Chairperson Rev. Paa Owusu Afriyie Bawua Bonsafo and current Sekyere Presbytery Chairperson Rev. Sam Foster Kwakye.
The visit held personal significance for the Moderator, as the first District Minister, Rev. Kwadwo Atiemo Ayeh, was his seminary mate. Reflecting on this, he expressed gratitude to God for the District’s journey and legacy. He reminded members of the sacrifices of early missionaries and urged them to remain steadfast in faith, assuring them that victory in Christ is certain despite life’s challenges.
On the Bicentennial Anniversary in 2028, the Moderator encouraged members to prepare spiritually and physically for the celebration. He also charged them to draw others to God through faithful witness and exemplary Christian living. Above all, he stressed that unity and love remain vital for the growth and impact of the church.
