The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has proclaimed the year 2028 as a “Special Jubilee” for the church, marking its historic Bicentennial Anniversary. Speaking during his pastoral visit to the Goaso District, he urged members to embrace the bicentennial with gratitude.

He inspired congregants to remain thankful for belonging to a church that has endured for nearly two centuries. He urged members to turn their gratitude into joyful celebration as the PCG prepares for its historic Bicentennial Anniversary in 2028.

The Moderator reflected on the resilience of the church, noting that while many denominations worldwide have faced divisions and schisms, the PCG has remained united since its establishment in 1828. He emphasized that this longevity makes the Presbyterian Church of Ghana the oldest continuously existing denomination in the country.

Looking ahead to the Bicentennial, he outlined two major initiatives designed to make the celebration spiritually impactful: Agenda 2 Million, which includes the planting of 1,000 new congregations, and the construction of the Kutunse Conference Centre. He called on members to commit wholeheartedly to these projects, describing them as vital to the future growth of the church.

The Moderator also urged congregants to prioritize evangelism, encouraging them to use annual Asempatrew programmes as platforms for deepening spiritual renewal and winning souls for Christ. He highlighted the church’s discipleship manual as a valuable tool for nurturing believers who reflect the character of Christ and make meaningful contributions in society.

Acknowledging the PCG’s global presence, he encouraged members with relatives abroad to connect them to Presbyterian congregations or even establish new ones where none exist. He concluded by reminding the church to walk in love, remain united, and diligently pursue God’s mission, building on the strong foundation laid by generations past.
