The Central Presbytery has entered a new leadership phase as Rev. Nana Osei Owusu Fosu officially assumed office as the 13th Presbytery Chairperson, pledging to reinforce the progress made and provide fresh vision for the next chapter of the Presbytery’s journey.
Speaking at his induction, Rev. Owusu Fosu described leadership transitions as moments of reflection and anticipation, noting that the Central Presbytery stands “between a remarkable chapter that is drawing to a close and a new chapter that is to begin.”
He outlined the task ahead as one that requires honouring past achievements, responding to emerging challenges and strengthening the Presbytery’s collective mission. Rev. Owusu Fosu shared a clear awareness of the Presbytery’s identity, responsibilities and opportunities.
He reminded the gathering that Central Presbytery is one of the first five Presbyteries of the PCG, serving as a witness for Christ for 104 years. He also provided a snapshot of the Presbytery’s current strength and expressed gratitude for the support he has received since his election.
“I come to this office with a humble and open heart of sincerity, hoping that the Lord will do something new, something special and unique in our Presbytery,” he said. “I do not come to seek wealth, fame or power. I have come so that, by God’s grace, we as a Presbytery can work together to fulfil God’s purposes in the world.”
He stressed that the work ahead cannot be done alone, pointing to the Presbytery Session, the Presbytery Session Council and the Standing Committee as essential partners in mission. He called for unity, prayer and collective effort to bring God’s people closer to Him and to win more souls into His Kingdom.
Rev. Owusu Fosu paid warm tribute to the outgoing Chairperson, Rev. Fiifi Foh Arkhurst, describing his tenure as marked by “ironclad commitment to the mission of the Church, visionary leadership, strategic intervention and a determination to position the Presbytery for greater impact.” He also acknowledged the outgoing Clerk and the leadership teams whose inspired initiatives have moved the Presbytery forward.
