The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has commiserate with families of the victims of the explosion at Apiatse near Bogoso in the Western Region.

“The Presbyterian Church of Ghana’s heart goes out to those bereaved families and the injured. We console the bereaved families and wish those who are injured and receiving treatment, God’s healing grace and quick recovery”.

The Church in a statement signed by the Moderator Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante on Tuesday 25th January 2022 said “We would like to say that we are happy the authorities are doing what they can to get to the bottom of this disaster and we are hopeful that lessons would be learnt to prevent the recurrence of such a disaster”.

The Church commended the combine efforts of the Ghana Police Service, National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) the Ghana Armed Forces and other emergency groups and organizations providing support and healthcare for the affected victims and their families.

“As we mourn the lives that have been lost in this disaster, we ask our politicians not to score cheap political points with the tragedy that has befallen the nation, instead, they should support national efforts at supporting the victims and their families to come out of their current predicaments” the statement said.

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana pledged to rally its congregations and members across the county to offer support in the form of donations of all kinds such as cloths and other useful materials to the affected victims and their families.

It also encouraged Ministers of the Church around the area to offer emotional support and counselling to the victims and the affected families.

“In this time of national grief, we encourage everyone with Isaiah 41:10 which reads, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”.
