Day 2 Wrap of Moderator’s Western Presbytery Visit
On the second day of his weeklong pastoral visit to the Western Presbytery, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, delivered a message of encouragement and spiritual renewal to congregants and church leaders across several districts.
Bogoso: Build on the Foundation of Christ
Beginning his day at the Emmanuel Congregation in Bogoso, the Moderator addressed Agents and congregants from Bogoso, Prestea, Tarkwa, Nsuta Wassa, and Aboso, urging them to serve the Lord joyfully and remain committed to the PCG.
“There is only one foundation, and that is the foundation laid by Jesus Christ,” he declared. “This is not the foundation of the Moderator or the Ministers or the Catechists. It is the foundation of Jesus Christ. He would test lives and our work with fire.”
He challenged the gathering to reflect on the quality of their spiritual lives. “Jesus says we should build with good things, with good materials. What are you doing to build on the foundation laid? It’s our turn to build on what others did.”
The Moderator also cautioned against discouragement and division, encouraging members to remain steadfast in their faith and service. “Let’s serve God and not listen to or follow what others say to leave the church. We should love God and love His service,” he stressed.
During a question-and-answer session, congregants raised concerns about church paraphernalia pricing, educational qualifications for ministry, and access to Presbyterian schools—especially at the Senior High School level. The Moderator addressed these issues, reaffirming the Church’s commitment to transparency and inclusivity.
Tarkwa: Strengthening Faith and Expanding Reach
Later in the day, the Moderator visited the Trinity Congregation in Tarkwa, where he met with members from the Tarkwa, Nsuta Wassa, and Aboso Districts. He praised the Agents and congregants for their leadership and dedication, noting that the PCG has long been a pillar of development in Ghana.
He highlighted the Church’s contributions to the health sector and affirmed its commitment to sustaining these efforts. “The PCG has always stood for development. We will continue to serve the people through our health institutions,” he said. Emphasising the importance of spiritual discipline, he urged members to prioritise prayer and Bible study. “It is what fortifies us in the service of the Lord Jesus Christ,” he noted.
Agenda 2Million and Global Growth
The Moderator spoke passionately about Agenda 2Million, the Church’s strategic initiative to grow its membership and expand its reach. “The church is growing steadily across Ghana, the United States, Europe, and Dubai,” he said.
“Almost every American state has a PCG congregation now to the glory of God. We have churches worldwide; tell your children to come to church.” He encouraged congregants both locally and abroad to remain rooted in Presbyterian values to sustain the momentum of church planting and growth.
Kutunse Project: A Call for Continued Support
Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye expressed gratitude for the support shown toward the Kutunse Project, a major infrastructure initiative of the PCG. “Continuous contributions are necessary to sustain the momentum the project has gathered,” he said.
“We must help ourselves. Pray for the church leaders and everyone in the service of the Lord.” The Moderator’s visit to the Western Presbytery continues to inspire renewed commitment to faith, service, and growth across the PCG.
