The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has inaugurated the Awoshie District as the 22nd district of the Ga West Presbytery, marking a significant moment in the church’s mission to strengthen grassroots ministry, enhance pastoral care, and deepen evangelistic outreach within the Greater Accra Region.

The induction service was held last Sunday at a colourful ceremony attended by ministers, elders, and congregants. The new district, carved out of the Kwashieman District, has Rev. Mrs. Beatrice Ansah Kwakye as its first District Minister.

The service was officiated by the Chairperson of the Ga West Presbytery, Rev. Enoch Adjei Pobee, supported by the Clerk of Presbytery, Rev. K. K. Asante Sarpong, and the Presbytery Lay Representative to the General Assembly Council, Mrs. Adwowa Ofosua Annor‑Boakye.

Their presence underscored the Presbytery’s collective commitment to the growth of the new district. Preaching on the theme: “The Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world,” Rev. Pobee urged ministers, church officers, and congregants to model their leadership and Christian living on the example of Jesus Christ.

He emphasised humility, compassion, obedience, and God‑centred service as defining marks of Christ’s leadership, reminding the congregation that the sustainability of the new district would depend on servant leadership and collective responsibility.

As part of the erection rites, the Holy Bible was formally presented to the newly created district. District Minister of Kwashieman, Rev. Kofi M. Akyeampong called on elders, youth, women’s and men’s fellowships, and all congregants to rally behind the new district with sacrificial support and unity of purpose.

Clerk of Presbytery, Rev. Kennedy K. Sarpong, explained that district creation within PCG is not merely administrative but a strategic step to bring pastoral leadership closer to the people and expand the Church’s evangelistic footprint.

In her response, Rev. Mrs. Beatrice Ansah Kwakye expressed profound gratitude to the Presbytery leadership and pledged to shepherd the district faithfully. She urged members to commit themselves to prayer, hard work, and disciplined Christian living, stressing that spiritual growth must accompany numerical expansion.
