Kwahu Presbytery has rolled out a year‑long list of activities commemorating the 150th anniversary of the life and work of Rev. Fritz Ramseyer in Kwahu land. The celebrations, which blend worship, cultural engagement, historical reflection, and evangelism, are expected to draw congregants, chiefs, scholars, and the wider Christian community together in honour of the missionary’s enduring legacy.

The anniversary began on 25th January 2026 with a recognition service at Trinity Congregation, Mpraeso, marking 150 years since Ramseyer’s first sermon in the area. It was followed by a special ministry to the Palace at Bokuruwa on 1st February, affirming the strong ties between the church and traditional authority.

March will feature a series of high‑profile events, including the evangelism launch which took place at Grace Congregation, Nkawkaw on 1st March. On 14th March, a candlelight procession will light up Nkawkaw high street and Nkwatia town, with brass bands from Pepease, Nkwatia, Abetifi, and Nkawkaw South Brigade leading the way.

The following day, 15th March, will see another palace ministry at Aduamoa/Nkwatia, followed by the anniversary lecture and fundraising launch at Ramseyer Congregation, Nkwatia, with Rev. Edwin Buertey as guest speaker.

In April, the Presbytery will host a photo and artefacts exhibition at RTC, Abetifi, (April 17 to 18), showcasing missionary history and future plans. On April 26, Kwahu Tafo will host the second anniversary lecture and fundraising event, with Rev. Joshua Bossman as speaker.

May 8 has been designated Presbytery Memorial Day, featuring flag hoisting, commemorative services, and a musical concert at Ramseyer Congregation, Abetifi. June is dedicated to historical studies on Ramseyer across all congregations (June 22–28), culminating in a historical visit to key missionary sites in Abetifi and Bokuruwa on June 27.

Heritage Sunday will be observed on June 28, alongside the inauguration of the Presbyterian Royals Fellowship at Trinity Congregation, Mpraeso, with Rev. Dr Kwabena Opuni Frimpong as guest speaker. The celebrations will continue with a Presbytery Prayer Convention at Nkwatia PRESEC in July/August, and climax with a special thanksgiving service at Abetifi on October 11.

Two anniversary lectures will anchor the intellectual dimension of the programme: “The Impact of Ramseyer’s Mission Work on Kwahu Land” and “The Role of African Missionaries: Lessons from Rev. David Asante.” Youth groups are billed to also organise games at Obo.
