New Manse dedicated at Bechem
The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has dedicated a newly constructed manse at Good Shepherd Congregation, Bechem, during his pastoral visit to the Brong Ahafo Presbytery.
Bechem holds deep personal significance for the Moderator, who recalled being confirmed by the late Rev. Emmanuel Agyem Frempong, a native of the town, and mentored by Very Rev. Prof. Cephas Narh Omenyo, the 17th Moderator. “Bechem is home to me; it holds a special place in my heart,” he shared.
Addressing the congregation, the Moderator emphasised responsible Christian living and unity. “Let us always see ourselves as people gathered in the name of the Lord. In all things, let us look unto Jesus and remain united as one body in Christ,” he urged, linking the message to the Church’s upcoming Bicentennial Anniversary.
He also called for renewed commitment to Agenda 2 Million and the Kutunse Project, encouraging members to play active roles in their realisation. Drawing inspiration from the rebuilding of Jerusalem in the book of Jeremiah, he reminded the church that opposition is inevitable but surmountable.
With support from Rev. Benjamin Appiah, Chairperson of Presbytery, and Ms. Nancy Arthur, Presbytery Lay Representative to the General Assembly Council, the Moderator dedicated the manse to the glory of God, describing it as a milestone in advancing the Church’s mission.
At Nkwabeng District, the Moderator and his wife, Mama Benedicta, were joyfully received. He commended Rev. Maxwell Yeboah for his leadership in re-roofing the chapel and rallying support for Kutunse. He urged members to live by God’s Word and avoid divisiveness, saying, “If your character drives people away from Christ, repent.”
In Techimantia, the Moderator called for intensified prayer and joyful service, honoring the legacy of Samuel Otu, Ghana’s first Christian martyr. He warned against hatred and backbiting, and once again stressed the importance of the Bicentennial, Kutunse, and Agenda 2 Million as pillars of the church’s future.
